Little Shop of Morgansongs

In the fall of 1984, Dennis started his own publishing firm...Little Shop of Morgansongs (BMI) and the Morgan Music Group, Inc. Little Shop publishes exclusively the works of Dennis Morgan, while Morgan Music Group and its affiliated companies publish many other writers and hit songs around the world. Little Shop of Morgansongs, during this period, came out of the chute SCREAMING with four country hits back to back, including the #1 “With Just One Look In Your Eyes” by Charly McClain...this time written, produced and published by Dennis. However, another really gigantic break in Dennis’ career came at this point, also, with the worldwide monster “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)”, recorded by Aretha Franklin and George Michael, which Dennis wrote while in England with London based writer-producer Simon Climie. This record was #1 in virtually every country on Earth!!! And thanks to the Lord above, put Little Shop of Morgansongs on the world map in a very, very big way!!! Next, Dennis won the Ivor Novello Award in England for the Song Of The Year... "Love Changes (Everything)” by Climie Fisher. Simon Climie by now had formed the group Climie Fisher, with Dennis co-writing with them almost everything they ever put on record. And this resulted in one of the biggest, and perhaps the first, hip-hop hits on the planet...the #1 song “Rise To The Occasion”, which topped the charts all over Europe. It later was a featured song in the 1988 summer Olympics. Then came hits for Animotion, a #7 song called “Room To Move”, followed by hits like “My Heart Can’t Tell You No” by Rod Stewart, “When It Comes To Love” by Fleetwood Mac, “Sensible Shoes” by David Lee Roth, “She Takes My Breath Away” by Eddie Money, “Healing Love”- the Christmas smash in England by Cliff Richard, as well as four songs with the late great Willie Dixon, which Dennis recorded with Willie in Burbank, California.

the Morgan Music Group, Inc.

With the sole idea of publishing other writers’ songs, Dennis Morgan set up these companies in 1985. They include Morganactive Songs, Inc. (ASCAP), Dennis Morgan Music (BMI), Cottagehouse Music (SESAC) and several other related companies. This includes record labels and recording studios all based in Nashville, Tennessee, with satellite offices in Santa Monica, California and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since the company’s first signing, which was songwriter great Frank Myers, the Morgan Music Group has developed and published some of the biggest hits in the world...including “I Swear”, written by Frank Myers and Gary Baker and published by Morganactive Songs, Inc. Recorded by John Michael Montgomery and All-4-One, it is one of the biggest songs of all time. It’s in over 300 compilation albums around the world and, as we speak, is being used in a worldwide cologne commercial. Other classic songs published by Morganactive include “The Dance”, written by Tony Arata and recorded by Garth Brooks...his signature song actually. Also, five more Morganactive songs recorded by Garth and written by Tony (these six songs alone have been on 50 million records!!!). “Here I Am”, written again by Tony and a #1 on Patty Loveless. “Saved By Love”, written by Chris Smith and published by Dennis Morgan Music, was recorded by Amy Grant and was #1 for 13 weeks! Hundreds more have been recorded, as Morgan Music Group, Inc. really is a company that nurtures talent and energizes dreams...with much more to come for sure!!!!!!!!!!

Other affiliated companies include Dreamstreet Studios, which is two 24-track rooms (one analog, one digital) and four record companies- Grand Avenue Records® (country & pop label), Little Morganville (a children’s label), Big Cool Daddy Records (blues & r&b) and Dreamstreet, which is a contemporary Christian, gospel and custom label...
